15/11/2021 – Publication: ‘Ancient architectural restoration in the Greek world’
We are happy to announce the publication of ‘Ancient architectural restoration in the Greek world’, the proceedings of the international workshop held at Wolfson College, Oxford, on February 28 and March 1, 2019.

The book, the first published on the subject of architectural restorations in ancient Greece, is a collection of papers by specialists of various backgrounds (architecture, epigraphy, conservation, history, archaeology), all members of the Emblema group. It sheds light on various aspects of the Greek world, such as the relationship of the Ancients with their own past, memory, technological challenges, administration and economy, and the political and religious meanings of the built heritage.
‘Ancient architectural restoration in the Greek world’ was co-edited by Jean Vanden Broeck-Parant (CReA-Patrimoine, Université libre de Bruxelles / FNRS) and Tommaso Ismaelli (CNR-ISPC), and was published by Quasar (Rome) in the series Costruire nel mondo antico, directed by Jacopo Bonetto and Caterina Previato (Dipartimento dei Beni Culturali – Università degli Studi di Padova). The volume was funded by the Lorne Thyssen Research Fund for Ancient World Topics (Ancient World Research Cluster, Wolfson College, Oxford) and the CNR-ISPC (Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche – Istituto di Scienze del Patrimonio Culturale).
